Ben & Jerry's sorry for Linsanity flavor ingredient...fortune cookies

Ben & Jerry's, the iconic ice cream brand famous for flavors borrowed from a broad swath of the culinary spectrum, has apologized for including fortune cookies in its "Taste the Lin-Sanity" frozen yogurt sold at a Harvard Square location in Boston.

The Vermont-founded company has replaced the fortune cookies in its honey-swirl, Jeremy Lin-inspired variety with waffle cones.

"We offer a heartfelt apology if anyone was offended by our handmade Lin-Sanity flavor," Ben & Jerry's said in a statement.

Even if these companies wanted to be offensive w/ other ethnic groups, they likely wouldn't. Even though I find it hard to believe, I have to wonder if they even know it is.

It reminds me of something earlier, even though he is a descendant of a country thousands of miles away from Lin's. I was in the Army when the Virginia Tech shooting went down, the only South Korean/American in our unit faced a lot of jokes the following the week, even from his own platoon Sergeant. I was amazed how cluelessly offensive they were.
