Tim Tebow hits 3-run homer on 1st swing in Double-A for Mets

https://apnews.com/f081adbba8344fc9b9ce92353220ebdb/Tim-Tebow-hits-3-run-homer-on-1st-pitch-in-Double-A-for-Mets

Tim Tebow sure knows how to make an entrance.

Playing his first game in Double-A ball, Tebow hit a three-run homer on the first pitch he saw. The New York Mets minor leaguer connected on a frigid Thursday night at home for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in the Eastern League, facing Portland.

Last April, Tebow also homered in his first at-bat with the Class A Columbia Fireflies of the South Atlantic League.

This time, the former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback sent a liner far over the fence down the right-field line as the crowd at NYSEG Stadium stood and cheered the 30-year-old outfielder.

He, again, homered in his first day with St. Lucie Mets.

He batted .222 with the Fireflies, .231 for the St. Lucie Mets, finishing for the season batting .226.

Applying some fuzzy logic to these promotions, Timmy could finish this season batting a blistering .250. His numbers might be higher, say .260 to .275. (MLB average), if he stopped aiming for the fence.

Mets call him up, rides the bench until the absolute most opportune time - when they need a run!

Put him in for his first at-bat!

You'd see the Met's Nation take a knee or two then!

Hell, a perfect batting average of 1.000 in MLB would look cool on his resume.

at the ownership level!

Tim Tebow is bringing professional hockey to Lake Tahoe.

The ECHL Board of Governors has approved the expansion application for a team in Lake Tahoe beginning in the 2024-25 season. The franchise will be owned by Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner with the University of Florida and former NFL quarterback with the Denver Broncos and New York Jets.

He'll own the team with David Hodges, CEO of Hodges Management Group, LLC, which owns three auto dealerships and real estate investment firms in Georgia.

"The ECHL proudly welcomes the 29th Member Team to the League in the brand-new Tahoe Blue Event Center, expanding our geography in the western part of the continent, and creating natural rivalries for visiting fans with the Idaho Steelheads, Utah Grizzlies, and the entire Mountain Division," said ECHL Commissioner Ryan Crelin said in a statement.

I wonder if that rarefied 6,000 foot air will give the 'yet to be named' home team an advantage.

I.

The rider riddle is easy to ask,
but the answer might surprise you.

How desperately I wanted Cougar
(I, Leo, etc.)
brilliant proofs: terrain,
color, food, all
nonsense. All made up.

They were always there, the
laziest high-flyers, bronze-winged,
the silent ones

"A cunning man always laughs and smiles,
even if he's desperately hungry,
while a good bird always flies like a vulture,
even if it is starving."

(Milarepa sang)

Over and over again, that sign:

I hit one once, with a .22
heard the "flak" and a feather flew off, he
flapped his wings just once and
went on sailing. Bronze

(when seen from above)

as I have seen them, all day sitting
on a cliff so steep they
circled below me, in the up-draft
passed so close I could see his
eye.

Another time the vision was so clear another saw it, too.
Wet, a hatching bird, the shell of the egg streaked with dry scum,
exhausted, wet, too weak to move the shriveled wings, fierce
sun-heat, sand. Twitching, as with elbows (we all have the same
parts). Beak open, neck stretched, gasping for air. O how we
want to live!

"Poor little bird," she said, "he'll never make it."

Praises, Tamalpais,

Even so, I didn't get it for a long long while. It finally came
in a trance, a coma, half in sleep and half in fever-mind. A Turkey
Buzzard, wounded, found by a rock on the mountain. He wanted
to die alone. I had never seen one, wild, so close. When I reached
out, he sidled away, head drooping, as dizzy as I was. I put my
hands on his wing-shoulders and lifted him. He tried, feebly, to
tear at my hands with his beak. He tore my flesh too slightly to
make any difference. Then he tried to heave his great wings. Weak
as he was, I could barely hold him.

A drunken veterinarian found a festering bullet in his side,
a .22 that slid between the great bronze scales his feathers were.
We removed it and cleansed the wound.

Finally he ate the rotten gophers I trapped and prepared
for him. Even at first, he drank a lot of water. My dog seemed
frightened of him.

Tim Tebow's stats from first week in Double A

See ball, hit ball has become a challenge for Tim Tebow during his first week in Double-A since homering in his first at-bat.

Since blasting a three-run homer on the first pitch he saw this season for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Tim Tebow has struggled to put the ball in play against quality pitching at the Double-A level.

Just four games in, Tebow has hit a wall during his first week with eight strikeouts in his first 15 at-bats. Tebow's only hit in 14 trips to the plate since his long ball was a single to first base on Monday against the Akron RubberDucks.

Hitting seventh and playing left field, Tebow's .133 average is third-worst among regulars and strikeout total a team-high.

"Baseball's a game where it's never too high and never too low," Tebow said after the season opener. "It's just one at-bat and just one pitch, so you have to be focused. Tomorrow is another day where I have to improve."

Tebow worked on a new swing this offseason, a shortened power stroke designed to come faster through the zone. But off-speed pitches remain Tebow's primary weakness.
