https://www.aol.com/article/news/2018/07/25/triple-crown-winner-justify-retired-from-racing/23489582/Seemed inevitable the past couple of weeks, in following the conversation on horse racing forums. Minor injury and they don't take chances on horses with this type of stud value.
Only Triple Crown winner to retire undefeated, but the very strange short condensed career won't place him particularly high on the all time thoroughbred lists, if I had to estimate. Certainly outside the Top 10.

....the owners, including WinStar Farms sold his breeding rights to Coolmore before the Belmont. Coolmore was never gonna race him again if he won the TC. They want him to replace his sire, Scat Daddy who tragically died very young. They now stand two Triple Crown winners in American Pharoah and Justify. One is the sport's only Grand Slam winner and the other is the only undefeated TC winner. (Seattle Slew didn't retire undefeated). Best guess is they paid $75M for his rights.
I agree with you, Awsi Dooger, about how he will be remembered. Six races in 111 days of his 3yo season. Never faced older horses. Never had to carry weight. He's not even in the Top 50 in my opinion.
