Wow. He finished second, two strokes behind Brooks Koepka for an amazing charge at the end of the season's final major.
Since I don't look to sports figures-- or politicians-- for my moral guides, I would love to see Tiger have a successful second act. He's among the sport's best players.

(182,806 posts)I was rooting for him tooo. I'm conditioned at this point
Brooks simply out muscled the course the way Tiger used to do.

(3,569 posts)Guy is amazing. Relentless, unflappable. He finished strong too, birdie on 18.as much as I love to see Tiger's comeback, I am loving the young guns. Might be the most competitive era ever in golf.

(65,042 posts)Geez, he's up there in the Johnson, Day, McIlroy class of driving distance.
And in the interviews, he seems like an ok guy who is not letting his recent success get to him.
With his game, i wonder what he would have done at the Masters had he not been hurt.

Tiger making a comeback is going to be 'good' for a whole lot of people, many of whom presumably DO meet your moral expectations ... nobody draws eyes to the sport of golf like Tiger, and it's also pretty fun to see a legitimate 'comeback' story like his.
While I hope Tiger has learned his lesson afa showing proper respect to his spouse goes ... It's just sports ... and nobody is perfect.

(34,195 posts)It's a century when women are to be respected,
and excusing cheating husbands isn't accepted.
But I guess guys who can't keep their tool in their pants are OK
if your a sports celebrity or President.
But like you said, "Nobody is perfect".

(33,643 posts)He's paid for his transgressions in many, many ways ... and many think he crashed his car to give his ex-wife cover for beating the shit out of him for his cheating, which totally derailed his career. Dunno if it's true, but ... it might be.
His ex did walk away with $100,000,000, btw ...

(17,305 posts)but his jerk-face behavior towards fans and other golfers over the years is another. Here's a glimpse into his upbringing, which has fostered his cold nature:
One downside of getting hard-wired to measure your worth based on your performance on the golf course is that you might come to believe that, once youve met those performance expectations, youre allowed to treat everyone else like shit. And Tiger Woods treated so, so many people like shit.

(9,350 posts)I watched a good bit of the final round. I watched it from around 2 or 3 o'clock to the end of the round. It was exciting to watch. Tiger Woods, in contention, at a golf tournament makes that tournament fun to watch. I stayed watching partly to see if Woods would be able to pull off a win. A few times it looked like he was going to win. I was thinking, either he is going to win today, or he is going to win in the near future. The commentators seemed to think the same thing.
It was nice to see so many people at the tournament rooting for Tiger Woods. I really think people would have had a blast if he had been able to win that tournament. Likely the Masters is going to benefit from Woods doing so well in this tournament. According to the commentators the Masters is the next major. People are going to be watching to see if Woods can finally pull off another major win.

(65,042 posts)The lower his score got, the greater the viewership. They said that an upward trend happens in most tournaments, especially majors, but they did an overlay of the Masters vs yesterday. The slope of the line was like 3x as time went on.
He still moves the needle.
