(65,112 posts). . .that despite his layoff and past disgrace, he's still the biggest name in golf. There are those (some here) who think he's "done" and that he gets too much attention. A 62 on the opening day of an important tournament by the biggest name in golf is going to move the needle.
I'm not pleased with his politics either (i think it's a "dad was career military" thing), but IMO he's the best ever and still the most influential golfer out there.

(31,112 posts)I will check it out this weekend, as angry as I am at him I guess I will still watch eventually, especially if he can pass the RACIST Nicklaus for majors!
As I write this he is -1 thru 11 for today, not so good but still 2nd place.
Hey, I am pissed at Carol Burnett too, same reason - oh, I see I said that already

(65,112 posts)Yeah, the tournament is the (i think) second to last of the Fed Ex cup event. They're off for a week and then the tour championship is played at East Lake (it's there every year).
This is the deal where the winner of the playoff series gets the extra $10 million. So, they're in crunch time now, but deChambeau has won twice so he's going to be tough to pull that money from.

(29,322 posts)I get sick of the Tiger centric golf coverage. I can understand if he's in first or something like that but they obsess over every Tiger detail like the examples you cite in your reply to Awsi. I want to hear more about Dustin Johnsom for example.

(14,565 posts)But whatever. Tiger's biggest fans are always desperate to report something positive. The golf forums lit up today as if Tiger won 5 majors in one round.

(65,112 posts)Everybody following golf knows that Tiger has had issues in the first round this year, and then plays better as the tournament goes on. That was even true last week, because all that went wrong on Sunday was the putts wouldn't go in. They kept catching edges and staying up.
Besides, a 62 is a 62. Any big name shoots a 62 and it's going to be news.
