Report: Peyton Manning will be cut by Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday

Peyton Manning's career with the Indianapolis Colts will reportedly end Wednesday.

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the team will announce the release of the four-time league MVP at a news conference. Cutting him will prevent a $28 million cap hit for the team and instantly make Manning the most coveted free agent since Reggie White.

Manning underwent multiple surgeries to fuse vertebrae in his neck over the past 19 months. He missed the entire 2011 season.

The move has been in the works ever since it became apparent that the Colts would be in a position to draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck. Still, as recently as seven months ago, Manning being released by the Colts would have been unthinkable.

It has been expected for a couple of months(I believe)that this was going to happen. It still doesn't feel real though. Though I haven't really followed the injury aspect of this story and am not fully aware of how serious it is, the only thing I really know is he's "throwing hard in practice". They do have Luck coming and have greatly admired his talent ever since Harbaugh said Freshman Luck was better than Tebow or McCoy, best QB in the nation(was laughed at by analysts at the time). As a fan who catches the Pac-10(at the time) games, he certainly had a strong argument.

Manning apparently doesn't figure into the 49ers' plans, according to general manager Trent Baalke. "We haven't had Peyton in here nor are we even talking about those things internally right now," Baalke told KNBR (radio). "Is he going to play? I don't know. That's for the doctors to make the decision on and for him himself."

It fits into the past decade of QBs in Minnesota. I hope the resist and go with the youth they have with them now.

"Sanchise"'s season was an EPIC FAIL. And just imagine the two of them fighting it out for space on the back pages of the tabloids!
