Reports: Alex Rodriguez finalizing deal to buy Timberwolves after missing on Mets

Alex Rodriguez may be buying a sports team after all, just not in the sport everyone expected.

The former New York Yankees star and former Walmart president and CEO Marc Lore have signed a letter of intent and are negotiating with Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor to buy the NBA team, according to The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski. The pair reportedly have a 30-day exclusive negotiating window, and will take control of the team in two-and-a-half years if a deal is finalized.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN also reported that the deal was being finalized, and tweeted a statement from the prospective owners:

Taylor was reported last summer to be looking into selling the team after nearly three decades of majority ownership.

The guy had more raw talent that just about any player I've ever seen and had absolutely no need whatsoever to take PEDs. Unfortunately he did, and now his legacy is pretty much shot and he's almost certainly not getting into the Hall of Fame, even though he more than deserves it.

But instead of feeling sorry for himself, he embraced his time in the booth and turned into a really good broadcaster. I wish him all the best in this next endeavor.
