We suck at the Ryder cup

Once again we suck as of right now. This is no differnt than the NBA where all the white Americans have receded from competing. Almost all the white players are from Europe and they are unathletic.

Europe needs 14 pts to win the Cup, USA need 14.5 pts to win. Oh and the orange piece of shit did show up at the Ryder Cup. Couldn’t tell how much cheering he got. Did hear some USA, USA, tho. One of the announcers said may-be the POTUS can help USA win some more points.

2. Good. Most if not all of the American team is MAGA

Many of the Europeans are right wingers too ( I know Jon Rahm - despite supporting black lives matter - is an asshole), but I think there are some of them who are decent people.

but he bolted to the LIV tour to take the money from the Saudis and Trump, and has supposedly had friendly negotiations with Trump about the PGA merging back with LIV. He also was forced to withdraw from a tournament he was leading in 2021 because they found out he was not vaccinated. He's certainly not as bad as many on the US team, but I'll always consider every golfer who bolted to LIV as an asshole.

In the meantime, Scheffler, DeChambeau, Burns and Thomas from the American team have all publicly pledged their support to Trump. Scheffler & DeChambeau are both clearly Ultra MAGA. I will always hope for every one of them to lose every time.

I remember reading years ago that David Duval , when he was winning PGA tournaments, said he was the only Democrat on the tour. That wasn't completely true but close to it. Probably at least 90-95% of American Pro Golfers are Republicans.

3. I have golfed for thirty years but not much now. I have met great people but a large percent of golfers are

people I would rather not associate with. It makes people hostile. Just don't expect much from golfers as people. It's like road rage but on green grass.

9. You'd Like My Course

It's a course carved out a huge recreation club.
The vast majority of members are there for fishing, hiking, camping, the beach...
Only about 15% are golf members, but regular meters can pay a daily fee to play.
It's "private" but not swanky. There are not snobby professionals. A mix of blue & white collar, many retired.
It's so not swanky, I pay $1,100 a year & that includes unlimited use of the cart.
I end up playing over 180 rounds a year, so about $6 per round. I paid that much for 9 holes, walking when I was in HS! And, I left HS in 1973.
Nobody talks politics either. There are guys I know are R, but nobody goes there for a political debate.

10. PGA silent after Ryder Cup MC leads foul-mouthed chants abusing Rory McIlroy

The European team were expecting abuse from the people paying to attend this Ryder Cup, but not from the people the Ryder Cup are paying to entertain them while they are here. In a dismal start to what turned into one of the most rancorous day’s play in the history of the competition, the female master of ceremonies employed to inject some life into the crowd at the 1st tee was recorded using a megaphone to lead a chant of “Fuck you Rory!” before Saturday morning’s foursomes. The PGA of America, which is organising the tournament, was approached for comment but remained oddly silent.

The incident set the tone for everything that happened after. The words became a recurring chant, and by the end of the day the atmosphere around his fourball with Shane Lowry against Justin Thomas and Cameron Young had become so foul that the PGA of America had brought in a squad of state police to try to restore order.

It has to be said McIlroy has not helped himself. During his Friday fourball, he flipped his finger at a heckler while he was walking off the 11th green after Lowry had made a putt to put the team 2 up. On Saturday, McIlroy responded to the chants on the 1st tee by blowing kisses at the crowd. But he finally snapped when he reached the 16th during his foursomes match with Tommy Fleetwood. Someone shouted out: “Freedom!” while McIlroy was getting ready to make his swing. He turned to face the crowd and snapped back: “Shut the fuck up!” before he stepped back up to the ball and hit it to three feet from the pin.

“I don’t mind them having a go at us, that’s to be expected, that’s what an away Ryder Cup is,” said McIlroy after the round, although you guess he was being diplomatic given that a lot of what was said about his wife and private life. “Whenever they are still doing it while you are over the ball and trying to hit your shot, that’s the tough thing. You know, look, in between shots, say whatever you want to me. That’s totally fine. But just give us the respect to let us hit shots. Give us the same chance that the Americans have.” It did not make any difference.
