How could a driver of a $100000 BMW have never heard of taillights?

Saw him driving down the street at night, no tail lights so followed him into a parking lot to remind him to turn them on.

He had no idea what I was talking about. I showed him mine, showed him the back of his unlighted vehicle. He just jumped back in his car, pumped his brakes and said those were "tail lights", then bragged about his $100000 car and that he'd been driving it for 6 months like that.

that expensive cars often seem to lack turn signals.

... explains the difference between brake lights and taillights to that person.

If the driver continues to act that flippantly about it, the cop will surely issue a citation instead of a warning. That's assuming the cop is in a good enough mood to issue a warning in the first place.

Because its a BMW (I have a story on this).
