Thieves are stealing this car part. Here's how to avoid spending thousands

Car radar sensors help control special functions like collision and cruise control. Here’s how to deter thieves from stealing them.

A little device called a car radar sensor, usually tucked behind the front plate or automaker emblem, helps with features like cruise control and collision avoidance. And thieves want them.

“There’s a lot of bells and whistles on cars that people don’t realize they have,” said Oleg Lurye, a production manager at National Auto Body in Rockville, Maryland.

A video obtained by News4 shows thieves stealing the sensors in Baltimore. The growing occurrence prompted increased police patrols in D.C.-area neighborhoods.

“There’s definitely a way for someone to make quick money by reselling them,” Lurye said.

Meanwhile honest hard working people have to pay increased costs on car insurance and at stores to cover shoplifting etc. Just because criminals think working is for chumps.
