Sounding off about something in new cars (at least 2019 on)

I don't know who thought it was a great idea to put Bluetooth technology in all new cars AND completely eliminate CD players at the same time. Bluetooth is a great thing for navigation or podcasts or whatever UNTIL you hit a blind spot, and believe you me, there are plenty of those in Virfinia and east Tennessee, where I do most of my driving, BUT it has a tendency to go wonky also. Mine did for awhile this paat winter until I discovered that my car had decided my phone was an iPod. WHAT? It took awhile to disabuse the car of that notion. Also, it gets notional about playing some internet radio stations and even local radio.

But what is further annoying is not being able to play favorite music in the car without downloading it to my phone, which uses us a lot of bandwidth and is annoying as hell. And worse than that is being unable to listen to books on CD, something that literally saved my life during long commutes and when I was a travel nurse. Heck, I suppose those have gone the way of the dodo too. Listening to books on Bluetooth is not the same because you have to a) wait for them at the library and hurry up with them when you finally get them or b) pay for them via Audible or c) use something like Librivox and listen to classics, and Librivox has not worked well for me even at home.

Dammit, auto manufacturers, just give us back our CD players!

of creating these huge vehicles in America. Tired of driving in a world that looks like a bunch of tanks on the road. In Texas, it is especially bad because of all the smoke belching trucks.

but I miss my Honda C-RV. I have a 2019 H-RV now and I HATE it. I've never really liked it and I want to trade it in for something more like my 2006 H-RV. I only bought this damn thing because my husband pressured me into it. I'd be happy to trade it for an SUV of similar vintage, but NOT a Honda. I don't like his and I don't like the slanted rear window business on most of them. I know I don't want a Jeep, and nobody trades in their Subarus until they are practically moribund, so I'm kinda limited. Maybe a Toyota RAV-4 or similar. Everybody in the Virgin Islands seems to drive Broncos, but I've always been a bit leery of Fords....I dunno...

I had a 2007 CR-V with a 6-CD changer which I loved. When I got my new CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid it didn't come with a CD player because Honda did away with them a couple of years ago. Note, the RAVE4 also doesn't come with a CD player. I use my phone to get SiriusXM radio and almost all of my music is on the phone. However, it's a pain to switch to the music on the phone so what I'll have to do make a playlist of the music I want for a long trip.

As for audiobooks, I can download them from my local library and play it via bluetooth from my phone or iPad.

I might try an external CD player for long trips instead of SiriusXM.

Yes, that means I rip CDs onto the computer first, but I'm happy on my commute.

rent as needed. Always fun to sort out the features that are different by make, model, and year...

We pretty much only use maps on the phone plugged into the auxillary port. Other one want to get info from your phone. Sorry notin a rental.

We generally use the radio stations to hear what is being played in defferent areas .

Instead of USB ports, they use C-cables. I have two ports, one for charging and a dual one that charges and transfers data. The dual one allows me to play music, take/make phone calls and, messages, use Waze, SiriusXM to my infotainment center or I can connect by wifi.

Since there is no USB connector, I bought a USB adapter allowing me to connect a C-cable and a USB drive. I formatted the USB drive to exFat, like the manual said, but the infotainment doesn't recognize the connection. I've looked online and watched YouTube videos on how other were able to do it but it doesn't work for my.

I guess I'll have to contact Honda to see what the problem is.
