MLB Trade deadline preview

Trade deadline preview

https://lastwordonbaseball.com/2020/08/23/trade-deadline-primer-starting-pitchers/

And, for Tribe fans....

It’s still not a guarantee that the Cleveland Indians will look to move Mike Clevinger and/or Zach Plesac before next Monday’s deadline. Although, the organization is still manipulating the service time for both pitchers and it’s unclear what the response would be if they were to rejoin the Indians big league squad. Given the need for an additional bat or two, Cleveland might feel as though either Clevinger or Plesac are their best trade chips to accomplish that need. Clevinger is still under control through the 2022 season and that could really benefit a contending team looking for a long term starting pitching option.

His behavior didn’t surprise me because I know of some crappy things he has done off field. I’m not sure how welcome he’s going to be after this. I suspect Plesac’s standing with the team might be salvageable. Granted, they are both needed, but I really think Clevmay have poisoned himself.

but isn't pitching what wins championships? Have they called up adequate replacements? Pitching is hard to get.

This is off topic but how do you feel about the name change? Getting rid of the logo was of course necessary but is the name "Indians" derogatory?

that the team is in talks with groups of Native tribes over the name “Indians”. Whatever they decide will be okay with me.

I agree it was WAY past time for that offensive hawk-nosed cartoon character called Chief Wahoo to be retired — WAY past. You wouldn’t believe how many Tribe fans still bemoan losing him, though.

Great defender with a bigger bat than Jordan Luplow. And his salary is not outrageous.

Keep Clevinger and Plesac (unless they lose the next seven games). Best starting staff in baseball.

I was gobsmacked when they made no effort to sign him for another year.

I think they had their minds set on Yaz, Dickerson, Slater, Davis, and Dubon, and bringing back fan favorite Pence. Davis and Pence didn’t work out, of course. And they’re getting what should be a final look at Duggar. I’m wondering when Heliot Ramos gets the call in centerfield.
