Former Packers coach Mike McCarthy says he'll be at Packers vs. Steelers on 'SNF'
Former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy, a Pittsburgh native who helped developed Aaron Rodgers and won Super Bowl XLV over the Steelers, said he'll be at Acrisure Stadium for "Sunday Night Football" between the Packers and Steelers. "I think it's gonna be a hell of a game," McCarthy told "The Pat McAfee Show" on Friday. "I'm looking forward to watching it."
McCarthy was born in Pittsburgh and grew up just outside the city. He was hired as the Packers head coach in 2006, one year after Rodgers was drafted in the first round, and his teaching helped develop Rodgers into a four-time NFL MVP. Together, McCarthy and Rodgers won Super Bowl XLV over the Steelers in February of 2011.
On Sunday, he'll watch his former quarterback face his former team in primetime in Pittsburgh. McCarthy said it'll be an "incredible setting" for a football game, and he wasn't willing to make a prediction on the winner.
"Fall ball back in Pittsburgh, the Packers coming into town," McCarthy said. "I think it'll be a pick 'em game."
