Lambardi supposed that the ball travels 40 yards on a punt and wanted guys who could get there the fastest. It is absurd that it is still a "thing".
Almost as stupid as measuring their hand size.

Hand size is important for Quarterbacks, unless one deflates the footballs. 😁

The greatest reciever in FB history was slow in contrast to today's players. And he would still be outstanding today.

The average hand size for the 39 quarterbacks taken in the first round from 2008 to 2020 is 9.7 inches, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Here's just a small sampling of all-Pro and/or Super Bowl Quarterbacks with well below average hand size.

Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints: 8 3/8 inches
Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals: 9 inches
Jared Goff, Detroit Lions: 9
Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 9¼
Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs: 9¼
Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers: 9¼

akin to Seattle's Nick Emmanwori. Sets the edge? Rushes the QB? Works pass coverage? Plays outside linebacker?
