Tom Brady agrees to $70m, two-year extension with Patriots at age of 42

Multiple sources reported on Sunday that the 42-year-old has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Patriots, with whom he has won six Super Bowls. According to the NFL Network, the deal will pay Brady $70m and will take him through to the end of the 2021 season. Brady already has $212m in career earnings.

While Brady may not be at the peak of his powers he is still one of the best players in the league. He was recently voted the sixth best player in the NFL by his peers and he led the Patriots to the NFL title in February, his second championship in three seasons.

The Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, said before this year’s Super Bowl that he expected Brady to be his quarterback for the foreseeable future. “I would be quite surprised if he didn’t continue for quite a while as our quarterback,” Kraft said.

We know nothing about charitable efforts by him and his wife (who makes more annually than he does and is richer).

How does one spend that much money? A person can't. But should he work for free to assuage your feelings about his salary? My guess is he and his wife are setting up generational wealth for their kids. I don't see any fault with his salary, he can help family and set his kids up for life, while hopefully teaching his kids how to intelligently share their wealth with the rest of society (be charitable, but don't be a sucker).

God almighty. I can not believe somebody wrote that...

" are setting up generational wealth for their kids" -- How much does he need? DUH !!!

"he can help family and set his kids up for life,"

"be charitable, but don't be a sucker'

"His wife makes more, around $40-60 million per year."

Sorry, but I really... can not keep from laughing.. that a human being needs that much money so as not to be a 'sucker.' or whatever..

I know for a fact that not all rich people are evil money-grubbers and not all poor people are saints, that is how the real world outside of philosophical fiefdoms works. You may not be able to stop laughing about what I wrote, but understand that I can't stop feeling sad about your response to truths about how life really works.

4. Worth every penny if you compare him to other QBs.

The contract likely still does not make him the highest paid NFL QB.

I respect the guy because he seems to realize and act on a belief that at some level of money, winning titles becomes more important that more money. So he does not demand a max contract and cripple his team's ability to get good players around him.

Public School Teachers are the most valuable members of any functioning society, but we know they don't get nearly the money that they deserve. Maybe one day we will change things to work the way they should, but for now things are as they are and Brady should not be expected to work for less than lesser players.
