Halfway through Week 3 and my fantasy season is basically over

Started the season with two close losses, and as of right now I have lost to injury my number 1 RB (Christian McCaffrey) and SIX wide receivers (Jerry Jeudy, Jamison Crowder, Jarvis Landry, Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton, and AJ Brown).

McCaffrey, Shepard, Slayton and Brown all went out in the first half of this week’s games.

Next week’s team will be led by Quintez Cephus, Robby Anderson, Tim Patrick, and Chuba Hubbard. Oh, I guess Jamison Crowder might be back. Whoopee.

FFS.

Best to know now so you don't spend a lot of money on undrafted replacement players. TexasTowelie Sep 2021 #1

Unfortunately some of the leagues that I've entered have owners who abandon their teams and won't even change their lineups later in the season if they start out shaky. It might be worth making some trades still, but I'm more pragmatic.

The first time I ever played fantasy football I was last team to qualify for the playoffs, but I won the league based on the three touchdown performance of Marvin Harrison in his rookie season for the Colts. I drove up from Austin to Dallas to collect the winnings and visit some friends which was fortunate since I lent part of the winnings to one of my friends so that he could bail his girlfriend out of jail. Fortunately my friend woke up from the nightmare that relationship became and it ended soon afterwards.

I’m just bummed cuz after a run of bad seasons I thought I’d drafted a good team this year. Despite losing the first two games I had the fourth highest point total in the league after two games, so I was looking forward to this week for a bounce back. Now I’ve lost my number 1, 3, and 4 draft picks and a chunk of my best backups.

Oh well, I’ll continue to compete. Anything could happen I guess (but what’s most likely to happen is missing the playoffs yet again lol).

It became more troublesome than I imagined and the budget was also tight back then. I was also the only team owner that didn't have computer access and lI only had limited TV access so it put me at a disadvantage having to gather stats and read stories from the Austin newspaper for information. I'm not much of a gambler, but I do know when to walk away. It was not the wagering money that was the only issue as I also grew disinterested since there were relationships and other events that required my attention.

I did make up for bowing out of football a couple of years later when I bought season tickets at Texas Stadium during the season that Emmitt Smith broke the rushing record so I was there seeing NFL history made.

Shepard, Brown, McCaffrey and Slayton all have hamstring injuries — all this week!

Hopefully they won’t be out too long, but the several-week recovery time on those injuries is gonna make it very difficult to claw my way back.

Oh well!

Then it won't make you feel better to hear that I've never played before and I don't know what I'm doing.

In that case, welcome to Fantasy Football

And thank you for the timely reminder that I shouldn’t get too worked up about it
