Does anyone here remember Roman Gabriel?

Growing up in the 60's, CBS had an East Coast game, then a West Cost game. The Rams got a lot of the WC broadcast mindshare. For good reason. Gabriel was the first quintessential QB. He did not win a Super Bowl though. They didn't have Super Bowls when he played.

I had a nice card collection of almost the whole team like early seventies. I was on the east coast for many years and never heard he became a judge/justice.

He was the awesome baller.
Jones Grier, Olson, and Lamar Lundy.....Lundy was a quiet dude, given his cohorts.

Dick Butkus called them "the most dominant line in football history."[1

I went with my Dad to a Boston Patriots game at Harvard Stadium. Saw Joe Kapp suck and get bombarded with snowballs by Pats fans after he turned and gave them the Double Flying Eagle. Pete Sellars was a great receiver, IMHO.

back in the early 60s. Great player and, yes, movie star looks.

Roosevelt Grier, unbeknownst to many, was really into needlepoint. In fact, I got started doing needlepoint because my father found his needlepoint book at the library. I probably never would have been interested in that “girly stuff” if not for that book.

I was 10 when I started paying attention to NFL football. Sunday afternoons had CBS late games on. LA Rams got a lot of playtime on the East Coast.

of the Vikings in 1961, and then to the Falcons in 1968. Great QB, with a volcanic temper, but a lousy coach.

He was the only quarterback to beat a Lombardi team in a playoff game — 1960 NFL championship, Packers v. Eagles.
