QB Deshaun Watson won't face criminal charges in connection with sexual misconduct allegations

HOUSTON -- A grand jury has declined to indict Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson following a police investigation sparked by lawsuits filed by 22 women who have accused him of harassment and sexual assault during massage sessions.

The announcement on Friday came nearly a year after the first civil lawsuit was filed against Watson.

A grand jury in Harris County returned nine no bills on the nine criminal complaints presented to it. As a result, the criminal proceedings in Harris County have concluded, according to prosecutor Johna Stallings.

22 complaints, and no charges? Wow.

If he is charged criminally then his ability to make a civil settlement would be far less. I thought one case in particular looked very strong given their were contemporaneous emails some of them being apologies from Watson that could be viewed as consciousness of guilt.

Of course there could also be a question of how hard the DA actually worked to try to get an indictment. It seemed to be a bit more than a ham sandwich.

I don't know if the accusations are true or not. I will say I thought the timing of the accusations was suspicious.
