Borderlands 2 $100,00 Loot Event - What a mess

So they have been advertising this thing with no real description of how it would work for a week or so and it got underway yesterday... A day after it was supposed to start. This was the first problem. They had tons of people waiting to find out how it would work and join in but some type of technical glitch happened and... They just shut up about it for most of the day until they cancelled it and said it would start the next day... Sheesh. WTF is up with companies not wanting to talk with their customers? Do they think people will turn on them if an issue arises... Do they not realize the issue is there anyway and that it will just piss people off when they have no clue why nothing is happening?

Well... Yesterday they managed to fix whatever was wrong and got it going. Unfortunately, they did a lousy job of explaining exactly how the thing was working. To fix that, they once again chose to ignore the outcry and just let things go without telling their community how things are working.

What a mess.

As best I can figure it out, each day, there will be a new 'target' to kill and get a special weapon... This special weapon is a standard weapon already found in the game with some type of small buff. Yesterdays was the Gwens Head pistol. The buff is that it has a larger mag and 'increased stability'... I'm a bit vague on what increased stability is since it is not a listed stat... Could be accuracy or recoil or something else... They don't say. Killing the 'target' gets US players a ticket for the day into the prize drawing. Also, once you have the weapon of the day from the new source (I think, again, they don't say if it has to be a new one or if an old one will work), the community as a whole has to kill 'x' number of another target... Yesterday it was 50k badass marauders. Meet each days kill targets for a week and somehow (yet again, no one knows how) you will get another weapon.

They also put up a tracking page... This does not work very well either. It can be hours before it gets updated and for many it is not getting updated at all or incorrectly. Anyone who is not in the US seems to be out of luck for this... They can get the loot but so far, the loot is not that great. Yesterday was then Gwens Head and todays is The Hornet... I hate both these guns as you have to pull the trigger once for each shot... No auto-fire... I fucking hate that and never use these guns... Plus, with the gun bonus being only to these types of guns, it will probably only be these all week... So, no decent weapons all week but the bonus is The Creamer... A rocket launcher... Yea... Another pretty much useless weapon. It may or may not have some type of new buff but Gearbox does not seem to want to let anyone know if that is true or not yet either... Sheesh.

What a mess.

So... I'll go kill the target of the day to get an entry... I think... See, my page is not updating so I have no idea if it is yet another glitch or I'm doing something wrong... And of course, Gearbox is declining to tell us which it is.

What a mess.

The worst part... And Gearbox, I hope you are reading this... All of this could be easily fixed and turned around in very short order... Just contact me and we will talk salary, then I'll get you fixed up right away. Correct community relations fixes many issues but bad community relations makes them 10x's worse. Don't end up in the 'Fuck you EA' category... My rates are more then reasonable, contact me.

"What a mess" is right!

I was hoping they'd give some serious buffs to some of the shitty guns in this game. One extra shotgun shell and + 5% reload speed for one of the shittiest guns in the game is beyond out of touch. It's almost like they're trolling us.

They hyped this up like it was going to be a big deal but it's really not worth putting the disc back in my Xbox. Thanks for this amazing event, Gearbox!
