Manchester United's many money-spinning commercial deals – in pictures

From a diesel engine partner to their official savoury snack partner, Manchester United have more sponsorship deals than you can shake a chequebook at, with some 34 in total. Check out some of their money-spinning commercial tie-ins ...

In the name of God, do these people have no shame? Do they have no class? Do they have no sense of irony? Nah, they probably sold all three.

Not just in football either. I watch rugby as much as football these days, and I have a Rotherham Titans rugby union shirt with no less then 14 seperate adverts on it. The mind boggles.

As much as I am loathe to defend Man U in any way I have to admit that most clubs would do the same thing if given half a chance. Especially given how much most football clubs are in debt.

... Rooney and potatoes?

More importantly, it's just another example of how money is ruining the game. Why the hell do Man U need an official diesel engine partner? United wouldn't have such huge overheads if they weren't paying Rooney a million quid a month for clumping round Old Trafford like a young Mr Creosote.

As to the whole matter of footballers being paid silly money, would football clubs need to whore themselves out so much if we didn't have that problem?

... should either hide in shame or at least be honest and put a picture of Satan himself where the sponsor's name should go.
