Need a dining recommendation in or near downtown Minneapolis

So my 50th birthday is Tuesday but that's the same day I have to attend a conference in Minneapolis.

To make the best of it I decided to take my wife along, so we're going to enjoy a 3-day weekend and then a birthday dinner on Tuesday evening.

The hotel is downtown, so I'd love to hear restaurant recommendations from anyone who's familiar with the area. We're game for pretty much anything, but nothing too casual nor too fancy.

Thanks!

Be sure to check out the suburb list on the left side of the home page.

I was just at a wedding reception at a newish restaurant called Mason's, which is located on the ground floor of a Victorian-era building on Hennepin Avenue. The mushroom risotto was to die for.

For a pub atmosphere, Britt's Pub and The Local on Nicollet Mall.

For tapas, Solera on Hennepin.
