Missing Malaysia Plane's Pilot Supported Anwar Ibrahim, Posted Atheist Videos On YouTube

Malaysians have rallied to the defence of pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah, the pilot of missing flight MH370, as analysts pointed out his support for opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim made him a likely moderate secularist, rather than a terror suspect.

Major national papers, including the Daily Mail and the New York Daily News, have called Zaharie a "fanatical" and "devout" supporter of Anwar, who was recently jailed for five years for sodomy.

Other reports have called Zaharie a "devout Muslim", but his YouTube channel shows he had recently subscribed to the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science channel, and 'liked' several videos about atheism, including "Atheist Michael Newdow Intellectually Demolishes Arrogant Moron on Fox News".

On his Facebook page, he posted a video of the 2013 Boston bombing, with the caption 'Condolence to the deceased'.

However, the media is chewing the scenery with all sorts of other narratives, as the article documents.

Thank you, rug. Good work.

1. He's one of the victims, not the perpetrator.
2. Using 'like' feature as a bookmark, not implying agreement.
3. Cover story.
4. If he was an atheist, that doesn't imply anything about his morality.
5. He was coerced.
6. Who the fuck knows.

Hard to guess at motives until we AT LEAST know the final disposition of the aircraft and its occupants.

I do tend to look at the 'devout muslim' claims as knee-jerk western blame/smearing.
This man could be a wholly innocent victim.

While it's an interesting story, I can't see how it can be linked to the missing plane.
