New book accuses Vatican of hiding cases of sexual abuse of minors.

http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2012/03/25/new-book-accuses-vatican-of-hiding-cases-of-sexual-abuse-of-minors/comment-page-1/
Leon, Mexico (CNN) – On the same day Pope Benedict addressed and blessed a group of 1,800 children in Guanajuato, Mexico, three Mexican authors released a book accusing the Vatican of hiding or ignoring cases of child sex abuse by Roman Catholic priests.

The book, “La Voluntad de no Saber” (Willing Not to be Aware), chronicles multiple cases of sexual abuse of minors committed by Marcial Maciel, a Mexican-born Roman Catholic priest who was influential at the Vatican.

Maciel, who died in January 2008 at age 87, was the founder and director of the Legion of Christ and the Regnum Christi movement.

...

According to the book, the Vatican had knowledge of multiple cases of sexual abuse committed by Maciel decades ago, but church authorities chose to do nothing about it.

of something it has to be implied that it isn't a well known fact. It's quite open that the Catholic 'church' is a haven for pedophiles. Read the stats on it!

A new book?

Where has the world been for the past several years? I'm stunned at the extent to which religious Catholics blind their eyes to what has been in their face for years. When you have a solely male clergy of professed non-sexuals, what other consequence would you expect?

Sorry, I don't feel sorry for devout Catholics. This is what their structure and beliefs have inevitably created. If you believe in the priestly celebacy I suggest you look into the history of Pope Alexander VI (hint: the Borgia Pope -- yes! That Borgia. His daughter was named Lucretia. Yes! That Lucretia Borgia. You ought to read about her brother, Cesar!). Then look at the significant paper trail of the current hypocrite with the pointy hat.

Hitchens was correct. Religion poisons everything.

Enough of this bull shit. And William Donahue? Screw you!

Thats my opinion

I thought Hitchens--and you--are too smart to make generalized statements without a general grasp on the facts. Otherwise both of you look like bigots.

Even so, the scandal of long standing in the Catholic church is tragic for everybody--most of all for the children.

Despise religion.
Love the religious.

I have nothing but the most exquisite anger for organized religion. The theologians who study their holy books and then go into the pulpit, or whatever they call it, and profess to know the mind of God, they are the ones of whom I have a hatred that diminishes the heat of a million suns. They are educated and they should know better.

Now some person who attends services and listens to the ass hat in the pulpit, I have no complaint. I don't blame the victim.

Anybody who's studied the Bible, really done that, knows that it's screwed up big time. But there are whole schools devoted to apologetics, arguing against the undeniable fact that the Bible is a mess. It's also these so-called educational institutions which I also reserve my revulsion. They certainly know what they're doing.

And these are the people who substantially control the Republican party.

Indeed, I am extremely bigoted against organized, ignorant, no nothing's who profess to speak for God. I have a low tolerance to such idiocy, as should everybody.
