San Francisco archbishop blasts gender transitions as threat to faith

[div class="excerpt" style="margin-left:1em; border:1px solid #bfbfbf; border-radius:0.4615em; box-shadow:-1px -1px 3px #999999 inset;"]NEW YORK (RNS) Amid the national buzz over transgender celebrity Caitlyn (formerly Bruce) Jenner revealing her new female identity, a leading culture warrior in the Catholic hierarchy on Wednesday (June 3) denounced the spread of “gender ideology” and warned that it threatens the very foundation of the church’s faith.

“The clear biological fact is that a human being is born either male or female,” Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco said at the start of an address in Manhattan at a conference aimed at promoting an older form of the Mass in Latin.

“Yet now we have the idea gaining acceptance that biological sex and one’s personal gender identity can be at variance with each other, with more and more gender identities being invented,” said Cordileone, who is the point man in the battle against gay marriage for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

As a reinforcement of my previous post, and because I didn't catch this till after than one was posted, this bolded statement is objectively not true, there are a whole range of intersex conditions that disprove this, about 1% of the population simply don't fit, at birth, in the Male or Female box.

Again and again he reveals the bigotry and hate that is integral to the RCC. Pope Frank lets him say and do whatever he wants without recrimination. Cordileone is the true voice of religion.

5. “The clear biological fact is that a human being is born either male or female,” is idiotic

Beyond the psychlogical dichotomies among some between physiological and psychological sex, there are also well documented instances of physiological 'in-between's.

One billion believers, and can't get together a serious scientific committee?

Wankers.

Seems that everything from gays to contraception to Marylin Manson is enough to shake its very foundations.

And why do Catholics seem to be so obsessed with sex and how other people do it. And with whom? Something creepy about that.

but my question is, why does God care?
There are many biological things people are "born with" that we change.
Should we not medically alter anything?

11. Cordileone is correct. The whole house of cards is built on gender roles

Gay relationships and transgender people threaten that foundation. When we see that folks can step out of the roles the church wants to assign to them because of genitalia, and see those free people actually happy and productive, the door opens for everyone. Who would choose to submit to genital-defined limitations on your well-being and happiness if the consequences are proved to be illusory (at best). Now, you'll predict that some will refuse to run out that unbarred door, and that will, at first, be true. But eventually it's going to get lonely inside that small house, and the house itself will become weak from lack of maintenance and support, and then even the staunchest of god's warriors may choose peace over continued vigilance over a lie.

The fact that they keep this guy around speaks volumes for the church's true motives. Youthink after he got outed spraying the homeless with water for years they would do something. But no.
