Related: About this forumCJ Werleman’s Racist, Anti-Muslim Bigotry Exposed
http://www.gspellchecker.com/2015/06/cj-werlemans-racist-anti-muslim-bigotry-exposed/You may wonder whats left to write about CJ Werleman already exposed for misrepresentation, serial plagiarism, probable sockpuppetry, outright lies and a suspicious Twitter follower count not to mention public humiliation at the hands of Sam Harris. Both Salon and Alternet have since dropped Werleman from their pages, the latter completely removing his articles from their archives altogether. The only platform still willing to publish him is the propagandist outfit Middle East Eye.
It would seem that he holds new atheists responsible for this career nosedive, so spends his days demonizing them via his twitter feed desperately trying to link them to any atrocity or topical ill-deed he can, such as Anders Breiviks terrorism, White Supremacy, and The Chapel Hill Shootings.
The latest in this catalogue of bitter vindictiveness comes by way of associating prominent atheist authors with the horrific crimes of the Charleston Shooter.
This kind of malicious dishonesty gets the better of me and I cant resist digging a little deeper on Werleman to see what other inexcusable behaviour he is capable of. And the results of my curiosity are not good news.

Huh. He doesn't sound like a very credible source.

OP
The real question is, why would someone promote a racist like that on DU?

(49,533 posts)1. Wow, that's some ugly stuff.
What kind of lowlife would embrace and promote this bigot?

Are they so eager to punish outspoken atheists that they'll do almost anything to get even?
trotsky
(49,533 posts)5. Pretty much.
So full of hatred and impotent rage, willing to latch onto any vile individual to spread more hate and fighting.
These tweets are a few years old of course, but keep in mind that Werleman is a 42-year-old man this isnt some college journal we have unearthed, but the thoughts of an adult male approaching middle age. This kind of rhetoric and prejudice had no place in the atheist movement back then, and it certainly has no place in the atheist movement now.
I am very glad to have Werleman distancing himself from the "New Atheists," as I assume are they!

(57,349 posts)6. Exactly. I have no use for bigoted atheists.
The ones who post homophobic and misogynistic comments on DU are the worst.
trotsky
(49,533 posts)7. Yes, those have been some dark moments on DU.
I'm embarrassed and ashamed of atheists who do that. Comparing same-sex marriage to marrying a bicycle or animal, or telling women who are denied birth control coverage to just go buy rubbers at the drugstore. Horrible, disgusting behavior.

(57,349 posts)8. And they're still doubling down on it to this day.
And call atheists who stood up to them 'fascists', 'bigots' and 'theophobes'.
