Nike cuts ties with Manny Pacquiao after derogatory comments

http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/14793389/nike-ends-endorsement-contract-manny-pacquiao

Pacquiao apologized on Twitter within hours.

"I'm sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals," Pacquiao tweeted. "Please forgive me for those I hurt. God bless!"

"His comments were made to a Filipino audience, where same-sex marriage is not as accepted as it is here, and Manny is a convert of enlightened Christianity, which does not believe in same-sex relationships.

---
It says here Manny is a Christian, and an enlightened one at that. Therefore he is a spokesman for all Chritians. Any Christian here care to defend him?

If you are American, are you a spokesperson for all Americans? If so, defend George Bush's war against Iraq.

I trust you can see where this is going?

How about you make it to the people who love to post "Dawkins said" or "Harris said" threads in this forum constantly as if they're the leaders of atheism we all need to be accountable for?

I don't know where this is going. I thought I was satirising a frequent poster who thinks atheists worship Harris and Dawkins, and treat their spoken words as gospel.

That's called projection.

At least he didn't do the non-apology 'sorry if I offended anyone' bullshit that most people do.

Less than a day after the Filipino boxer and politician lost his sponsorship deal with Nike because he compared gay people to animals, Pacquiao took to Instagram early Thursday morning and posted some Bible verses that support his views.

One of them, Leviticus 20:13, states in no uncertain terms that homosexuals should be killed:

"If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

Pacquiao's post was up for about two hours and got more than 18,000 likes before being deleted. The Filipino news agency ABS-CBN captured a screenshot of the post before it was removed.
