Good news! Texas pastor: 'God has given Trump authority to take out Kim Jong-Un'

http://religionnews.com/2017/08/08/pastor-robert-jeffress-god-has-given-trump-authority-to-take-out-kim-jong-un/

God has given President Donald Trump the “authority to take out Kim Jong-Un,” according to the Rev. Robert Jeffress, one of the president’s key evangelical Christian advisers.

Jeffress’ statement on Tuesday (Aug. 8) followed the president’s warning earlier in the day that North Korea would “be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen” if the North Korean leader continues to threaten the United States.

The Texas preacher, who leads a congregation of about 10,000 people in Dallas, has been an outspoken Trump supporter since early in the presidential campaign. He is one of dozens of conservative evangelical leaders who have been getting what one of them described as “unprecedented access” to this president who, they say, seeks their views on policy.

...

In a written statement released early Tuesday evening, Jeffress said he believed the Bible makes clear that “God has endowed rulers full power to use whatever means necessary — including war — to stop evil.”

We must respect his religious beliefs, right?

And my recent hides were about confronting people who went after another poster who I am friendly with.

And at the moment I may have more hides than the usual suspects but over time they have had plenty of hides.

I have my mistakes here and Lord knows I have acted like an ass here at times but at least I can admit it.

The tendency to ascribe one's own failings to external situational causes while simultaneously attributing the failings of others to internal dispositional causes, e.g. "I behave badly confronting people who go after my friends" while "they behave badly to get under your skin".

Consider the following: the usual suspects are not mere sadists poking at people for the fun of it; perhaps they are led to their particular course of action simply as a reaction to their environment, i.e. other posters.

I think there are a few posters here who enjoy getting under others skin.

And you brought up hides so it seemed to me you were indirectly referring to mine.

The point I'm trying to make here is that behavior doesn't occur in a vacuum. You've behaved poorly and recognize the series of events that encouraged that kind behavior in you. That shows introspection, and yes, introspection is good, but you're not taking what you've learned about yourself to empathize with others.

And empathy is the root of the problem we're discussing here. You see a poster trying to get under the skin of another by using his words against him, not considering how that posters' words may have affected the OP. At great risk of descending into meta, the heart of the issue here is that one poster has seen fit to chastise atheists -- a widely distrusted minority who are routinely subjected to the ugliest aspects of religion -- for not paying enough attention to positive stories about religion. We live in a society that defers to religion, that sanctifies religiosity while at the same time associates atheists with the absolute dregs of moral depravity. And yet a person, from this position of privilege, who is not an atheist, and who does not understand the experience of atheists, has taken it upon himself to criticize the manner in which atheists discuss religion in one of the few places atheists can speak frankly about it without fearing socio-occupational reprisal. Can you understand why an atheist would find that kind of behavior objectionable?

and the atheist and Agnostic room what non-believers have to put up with in their daily lives.

Having said that let us not forget that some atheists in this room who currently post or are flagged/ppr'ed enjoy crapping all over believers.

But if we are going to be honest a lot of what goes on here is has nothing to do with religion, but is personality and for a lack of a better word tribal based. This is not to say that honest debate doesn't happen here but dishonest debate happens here daily.
