Hero fumbles the ball

From New Heroic Comics #97, June 1955

I don't get it. Here's a guy who acted heroically using nothing but his wits, strength, and courage, yet he feels as though he has to give credit to someone who wasn't even there and who did nothing to stop the crooks to begin with.

One time, I was prayin', "Jesus, help me get into Allison's pants." I even lit a candle in church for that purpose.

Well, I never did get into Allison's pants but Bob, who lived two blocks away... now that's a different story.
