Meet the women of the Mormon resistance against Trump

When President Trump issued an executive order last January halting travel from seven predominantly Muslim countries, it prompted howls of indignation from progressive and liberal civil rights groups. But some of the loudest voices of protest came from members of one of America’s most conservative organizations, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Mitt Romney, Republican Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake, Republican Utah Gov. Gary Herbert, and other prominent Mormons condemned the order. The LDS church issued a statement implicitly denouncing the administration’s move.

Many rank-and-file Mormons also opposed the ban, including Sharlee Mullins Glenn, a children’s book author living outside Salt Lake City. After discovering that other Mormon women were similarly appalled by the ban, which they claimed heartlessly singled out Muslims for disfavored treatment, Mullins Glenn launched a Facebook group called Mormon Women for Ethical Government. The page began as a place for Mormon women “to vent frustrations and talk about ideas for saving the country,” Mullins Glenn said. Within two weeks, the group had more than 4,000 members. - Washington Examiner

I mean, I have seen a lot of objectively really good looking Mormons, male and female. Course, they're lily-white mostly, and generally very well-kempt ... and they have some of the cutest damn kiddos you ever saw. Lots of them, of course.

But that was typically the extent of it as far 'things I applaud about mormons'... now these folks are putting their money where their mouth is and acting 'Christ-Like' ... so props for that, LDS folks!

... though I can't help but wonder if it's isn't a scam or 'angle' that I'm just not seeing ATM.

Which happens you know, cause ... religion.

But they will continue to vote for their Republican representatives, and they'll vote for Trump again in 2020 if he's on the ballot.

the Bible would be banned as a "conservative rag."

Nothing like censorship to identify us as liberal, progressive Democrats.

Mormon resistance against He Who Shall Not Be Named? Looks like a real thing!

Are Mormon women also saying "Times up?" It sure looks like it!

My choice not to link a conservative rag newspaper is my choice and my label, since I don't want an easy Adsense way for that paper to acquire additional site hits and therefore revenue from this post.

And the use of the term banning isn't accurate of that choice either. I offered no such meaning or interpretation in my proposition. I certainly would not support a ban on such religious symbols as the christian Bible.

Please stick to what people say.

It seems you made a point regarding a "conservative rag." That is not a disclaimer I ever see. It caught my attention.

My comment is in support of your post. I was not referring to you as irreligious, but we have plenty of those participating in this forum as you are probably aware.
