Fugelsang then asked her why she thinks Trump is the Christian option.
I think hes the Christian option because he always uses Gods name, she attempted before adding that Trump is bringing Jesus back to America.
Asked to cite anything from the Bible that supported Trump, the conversation went downhill as the radio host cited chapter and verse, and Tiffany seemed to be unfamiliar with anything from the Bible that she could quote.
Yeah... He talks about God a lot. That's why he must be a good Christian. Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure.
Because the person who makes a big show and prays loud and in public, that is definitely the kind of followers Jesus wanted.
You know, I'm always shocked and amazed how us f**king atheists have a better grasp of f**king Christianity than f**king self-proclaimed Christians.

Your overall point is correct, though. I've met atheists who know more about the bible than "Christians." My late husband was one of them. He used to give his fundie son fits.

(4,714 posts)The caller exemplified the success of the GOP in conflating their policies with the teachings of Jesus. This has been many years in the making. She ping-ponged back and forth between the 2 when asked to explain her support of Trump. Fugelsang did a good job trying to refocus her, but is clear that she could not offer a policy-based explanation for her support. Perhaps the one significant point she made was that Trump isn't Hillary, because it was likely the only basis for her vote. Everything else was irrational.

Actually, with most right-wing Christians, they would struggle with coming up with anything Jesus said. Give them some lines from the Sermon on the Mount, and they would probably call it heresy.

Wherein our intrepid hero says any city that rejects him will suffer a fate worse than Sodom and Gomorrah. Sounds insecure on a profoundly Trumpian level, does it not?
They should support me.
I say things like God damn and Jesus Fucking Christ all the time.
And I talk about God a lot here, so...
