Related: About this forumHere's an idea: How about if the Attorneys General of every state
began an investigation of the Roman Catholic Church organizations in their states, based on the several child sexual abuse cases already in the news. Demand documentation of any evidence of claims of abuse reported to the various dioceses in those states, and if those requests are not granted, impanel Grand Juries to begin investigations into the matter.
Every state has a criminal investigation body. Put them to work. No doubt there are cases already reported of such sexual abuse of children on file. Use those as the basis of the investigations.
It is time to pull back the covers over this and look for the stains on the bedding, I think. Past time. Let's dig it all out, expose it to the light and reveal what has been hidden so all can see.

Perhaps they should hire you to oversee the investigations. You certainly have an objective viewpoint.

(146,318 posts)It's my belief that there have been cover-ups everywhere. I believe we've seen only a fraction of what is out there. I would not be an objective investigator, so I'm not qualified. I am, however, qualified to call for such investigations. So, I'm doing that. Minnesota, my current home state, has already done that and has bankrupted the Roman Catholic Church in Minnesota. Massachusetts, too, and a couple of other states. Now, it's time for the rest to dig into the hidden horrors in their states.

I've read your posts for years and believe we are kindred spirits in many-- but not all!-- ways.
Your recent post that Pope Francis had decided to disband the Catholic Church was particularly amusing. And I still would like to hear a couple more of your pranks as I love a good stunt.
Regardless, the hypocrisy of this criminal organization is staggering. Not only have they consistently and internationally covered for the sexual abusers in their employ, but they have short-changed the children that Jesus told them to protect. In New York City, where I live, numerous Catholic schools have closed over the past several years because of a lack of funding. Curiously, the Archdiocese of New York recently spent nearly $200 million in renovation costs on the Fifth Avenue headquarters now as St. Patrick's Cathedral. In other words, they put the "glory" of their church before the education and protection of their children.

(146,318 posts)Minnesota has. There are examples of how to do it. I'm certain there are crimes to be uncovered in every state, frankly. And they should be.
