Related: About this forumA question about your Episcopal service today
Our Rectors sermon today was about his depression over current events. He even used the phrase, descent into madness.
After Communion, instead of the usual prayer, we read these prayers:
To the President and members of the Cabinet, to Governors
of States, Mayors of Cities, and to all in administrative
authority, grant wisdom and grace in the exercise of their
duties.
Give grace to your servants, O Lord.
To Senators and Representatives, and those who make our
laws in States, Cities, and Towns, give courage, wisdom, and
foresight to provide for the needs of all our people, and to
fulfill our obligations in the community of nations.
Give grace to your servants, O Lord.
To the Judges and officers of our Courts give understanding
and integrity, that human rights may be safeguarded and
justice served.
Give grace to your servants, O Lord.
We have never read these prayers before since Ive been attending.
I was curious if any other Episcopal services were similar or was this just our Rector.

(5,024 posts)Shouldnt your churches be talking to the Christian Evangelicals? I mean it seems like a family fight assuming that youre both working from the same Bible.

(4,224 posts)A lot of Episcopalians think Evangelicals are doomed to Hell because they often use their salad forks for the main course.
