New York friar blames youngsters who ‘seduce’ priests, coaches

A prominent New York-based friar has sympathy for some pedophiles -- including defrocked priests and former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky -- saying they are sometimes "seduced" by their underage victims.

Father Benedict Groeschel’s jarring comments come amid ongoing fallout from child sex abuse scandals that have rocked Penn State and, over the past decade, the Catholic Church.

In some of these cases, children “looking for a father figure” are responsible for the relationship with someone in a position of power -- like a coach or clergy member, Groeschel told the National Catholic Register.

“Suppose you have a man having a nervous breakdown, and a youngster comes after him. A lot of the cases, the youngster - 14, 16, 18 - is the seducer," said Groeschel, a founder of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal.

"He walked out of the wasteland reeking of death...and Hard Liquor"

unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) that one never got fleshed out. It had a near immortal guy and werewolves. Most of my stories have werewolves and wolf-daemons (or daemon-wolves depending on my mood).

My grandfather died 5 times, coming back after each of those fights. He fought a great battle with Death that day, but Death finally got the better of him on the sixth attempt. Hopefully his trip across BriFrost was more peaceful than his stay at the hospital.

Anyone that makes it through multiple flat-lines deserves the title of near-immortal.

This is the kind of institutional thinking that permeates the RCC. It is a putrid, rotting corpse of a church that has the gall to think it has any moral authority whatsoever. It and its defenders are a disgrace to humanity.

has nothing to do with being a Priest, or the old we can correlate this to a lot of things. I mean why, oh why point to an organization that has perpetrated and enabled child rapists for decades when we can absolve them of culpability and deflect to a non-relevant bit of nonsense.

That is a transparent and low attempt.

Accusing victims of causing their own abuse causes other victims to hesitate coming forward. When victims don't speak out, the perpetrators are allowed to continue the abuse.

I abhor violence, but I'm not sure I'd be able to hold myself back if this man said this to my face.
