Making it clear from context who or what is referenced by a word, while also choosing a word that has disreputable connotations is a technique that is akin to name-calling. There's little art in such a technique, even compared to the level of artistic skill displayed by mediocre propaganda.

Superstition is defined by St. Thomas (II-II : 92 : 1) as "a vice opposed to religion by way of excess; not because in the worship of God it does more than true religion, but because it offers Divine worship to beings other than God or offers worship to God in an improper manner". Superstition sins by excess of religion.

There are four species of superstitions:

1. improper worship of the true God;
2. idolatry;
3. divination;
4. vain observances, which include magic and occult arts.

...

... there's much more where that came from:

Now, is there anything that remains to be said in this thread?

Unless I'm misunderstanding the discussion at the thread you linked to, it seems that this Religion Group thread was alerted on. My opinion, for what it's worth, is that anybody who would alert on this thread really ought to do something along the lines of taking a "chill pill" ... which reminds me of my old HAL9000 signature line. Perhaps I will bring back that old signature line if there's enough future speculation posted on DU3 about whether or not I'm some form of artificial intelligence.

Do you have adblocker software in your browser, or some other add-in that might be preventing the image from being displayed?

It works for me, and from what I see from others viewing this post, it works for almost everyone else.

Maybe you're behind a firewall that blocks imgur.com for some reason? I don't know anything about your computer or your networking, so I'm just guessing.

Very cute. And so far above the heads of most religious reactionaries, it's pretty much wasted.
