http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2013/08/14/2469341/limbaugh-christians-global-warming/BY JACK JENKINS, GUEST BLOGGER ON AUGUST 14, 2013 AT 3:46 PM
Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh chastised Secretary of State John Kerry during Mondays show for having the audacity to believe in God and climate change at the same time.
Limbaugh evidently took issue with recent comments Secretary Kerry made while speaking before the State Departments Office of Faith-Based Community Initiatives, particularly his assertion that climate change was a challenge to our responsibilities as the guardianssafe guarders of Gods creation.
According to Limbaugh, Kerrys prayerful call to protect the planet was simply too much for the mind to handle:
Rush Limbaugh may not be a master of theological nuance. Still, his core assertion that someone cant believe in God while also believing that humanity has contributed to global climate change dusts off an old conservative myth that, like climate change-denying in general, ignores data, facts, and the lived experience of billions of people across the globe.

(394 posts)But believing in god and denying science are the same thing, IMO.
Makes a person feel good, but facts never enter into the equation.

It was more likely an act of imitation and a desire to please on the part of the offspring.
So Rush, what intellectual discussions did you have with your parents about becoming a member of the church?

(144,905 posts)In this case, Limbaugh is just plain wrong. Science and religion can exist side by side. There are some great works by Jewish rabbis reconciling the Torah with science http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rabbi-geoffrey-a-mitelman/why-can-judaism-embrace-s_b_880003.html

It's impossible to "debunk " him because there's never actually any actual coherent claim to debunk: a statement like If you believe in God, you can't believe in manmade global warming is gibberish, intended only to excite emotions by grabbing certain stereotypes
