Herman Cain: America ‘Was Conceived on Biblical Principles’

The Friendly Atheist has a piece up about an interview with FAILED Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain.

There's a key quote from Cain worth looking at:

But if you want to know the founders’ own attitude toward God and faith, all you have to do is visit Washington D.C. and look at all the buildings with scripture passages inscribed. Or look at our money, which says in no uncertain terms, “In God We Trust.”

Efforts by groups like the FFRF or American Atheists to fight things like public prayers, religious memorials on public property, and yes, to remove "In God We Trust" from our currency are routinely met with dismissal and disdain from some. Just wanted to point out why many consider those valid and reasonable efforts. Herman Cain is far from alone in this country in thinking those little breaches in the wall of separation are "proof" that this is a Christian nation. The little breaches can be used to justify the larger ones.

From your wikipedia link:

"In God we trust" first appeared on U.S. coins in 1864.

Replaced E pluribus unum in 1956.
