Frog Medicine

I've been thinking a lot the past week or so about the symbolism of the inflatable frog costumes, and the whole idea of the frog as the symbol of the resistance. I did a quick Google search on "Frog Medicine" and got this:

Spiritually, the frog symbolizes transformation, healing, and emotional cleansing due to its life cycle from tadpole to amphibian. It is strongly connected to the water element, representing a deep connection to emotions, intuition, and the ability to adapt to different situations. Seeing a frog can be a spiritual sign to embrace change, focus on emotional healing, and trust your instincts.

Core spiritual meanings
Transformation and renewal: The frog's metamorphosis from a tadpole is the quintessential symbol for personal growth and change.
Emotional healing and cleansing: Frogs are associated with water, tears, and the cleansing of emotional baggage and negativity.
Adaptability and flexibility: The frog's ability to live on both land and in water symbolizes adaptability and the ability to navigate different realms of life.
Intuition and inner wisdom: Frogs are seen as having heightened sensitivity, representing a connection to psychic realms and encouraging you to trust your intuition.
Fertility and abundance: In some cultures, the frog is a symbol of fertility, prosperity, and new beginnings, like birth and rebirth.

Also, from Otter On a Rock (https://www.otteronarock.com/frog-spirit-animal-totem-weeping/)

This little warty creature thrives in the wetlands of life. With his hypnotic ribbit, Frog cleans the pond that beaver built and calls the rain to wash away the stagnant energy of frustration and disappointment that accumulates in our daily struggles. Frog Spirit Animal Totem teaches that weeping is the rainy weather of the soul which frees our body and mind of all the pain we have endured so our spirit can arrive at a sense of a job well done.

Frog Spirit Animal Totem teaches us how to leap across the distances between our infinite hopes and our limited reality by dropping the weight of disappointment through the process of crying. Calling on the cosmic powers of frog lets the tears swell that will wash away our disappointments and prevent the stagnant feelings of cynicism to gather. Frog teaches us how to not drown in our pain and how to leap forward in difficult environments that want to consume our hope and ambition. There is nothing more important to do in life except keep trying. Trying is life, which can often make life trying. But frog says, rest and rain when you are tired and leap when the energy takes you. If frog has landed in your day, it may be time to put down the appointment book and let the storm clouds break. Take a bath, visit the ocean or a nearby lake and commune with water, the basic building block of your body. Frog’s totem speaks of how to embrace the frustrations of being a pollywog in the humbling cycle of transformation as we struggle to improve our abilities and life situations. She also teaches the Native wisdom about the modern disconnect between paper money and the ultimate value of material goods.

So, the Frog Spirit has entered our national discourse as a way to clear the miasma. Dancing, costumes, and the joyful atmosphere of the protests also clears miasma. Whatever we're doing right, we need to keep doing it. Keep wearing those frog costumes, and hop to it!

I couldn't find it on the internet so I could put a link, and I don't have (or plan to) an account on a photo sharing space.

Anyway, this is as close as I could find:
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Frog+Dont+tread+on+me&iar=images&t=newext&atb=v358-1&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fimages.teepublic.com%2Fderived%2Fproduction%2Fdesigns%2F81983158_0%2F1760867475%2Fi_p%3Ac_ffffff%2Cs_630%2Cq_90.jpg

I like the image I have better, it is a green cartoon frog, bright yellow background with the words Don't Tread on Me.

I like it!! Wish I could just paste it here. Maybe I can use it as my avatar or something.

Edit: The Avatar worked!, though is very very small. I will be printing this image for the next No Kings protest!

I was pondering the symbolism too. And I agree with the summery you presented.

This summer I had a garden in a new environment, for me, and I was not only surprised but thrilled that I had several frogs and a toad who camped out in my raised beds. There were some rather big ones and some pretty tiny peepers. I caught a few of them because they startled me when I almost stepped on them in the grass. I would catch them and put them in the raised beds so I knew where they were.

Their presence had an effect on me and I hoped to see them and did many times while I watered the gardens. Sometimes they would make noise when I got them wet, other times they would let me drizzle water over them as they crouched in the carrots and beets or one of the flower beds elsewhere. We would look at each other for long spells, they stopped leaping away and seemed to appreciate the water as long as it was a gentle flow. I was careful to not blast in areas where I knew they hung out.

In one of those 'now that you mention it' moments, they are very significant both at the national level and the personal level. Perhaps for more of us than just me. For my symbolism, I moved from the Rocky Mountains, where I've lived for three and a half decades, to the north east coastal area, where I grew up. It was a major leap in so many ways and I had to make a few changes in my expectations and approach but I will have what I intended in the end. I had to accept transformation in every way. I had to trust not only myself but others to make it all work and it has, so far.

As for the national symbolism, I think that as long as we incorporate the kind of determination and solidarity we had this last weekend, I think we can transition through this shit and make the changes needed ...for the better. Pluto only just arrived in Aquarius after all.
