DE PERE Bishop David Ricken of the Green Bay Catholic Diocese has urged top leaders at St. Norbert College to reconsider a campus visit this spring by feminist activist Gloria Steinem.
"Unless she has radically changed her position on abortion, which I hope she has, the connection of abortion rights to the feminist agenda is a sad one and calls into question the logic of such an enterprise," Ricken said in a recent written statement.
Steinem is set to visit the private Catholic college with bell hooks, who is conducting a week-long residency at the school and invited Steinem for a public discussion about the history of the women's movement, according to St. Norbert College spokesman Mike Counter.
Throughout the week, the social-justice scholar hooks will host a number of talks related to her work on topics including the theology of love and radical hospitality, community building and racial inequality. She and Steinem will participate in a dialogue on April 21, Counter said.

Can't have those students exposed to radical hospitality and equality.
