(THIS IS THE JEWISH GROUP)How the blood libel works: a thread.
Yesterday we saw how the blood libel works like lightening in the social media age, fed by corrupt organisations, amplified by politicians and reported on by credulous reporters.
The lie started with the UNs emergency coordinator Tom Fletcher who told journalists that 14,000 babies would die in the next 48 hours unless Israel allowed sufficient aid into Gaza.

I'm opposed to Israel's siege. Full stop.
Trump's sudden defunding of USAID has killed thousands of babies in Africa. Two wrongs don't make it right, but may I ask why we hear so much about Israel and so little about Africa here?

The default setting is Anti-Semitism and too many people across the world start from there.

(66,726 posts)There are about 50 Muslim majority nations in the world, and only one that is Jewish majority.
The population of Israel is about 10 million, of which 75% are Jewish and another 20% are Muslim. Israel is one of the only democracies in the entire Middle East.
Reading posts here I would think that Israel is the wealthiest, most powerful nation on earth, instead of, say, Saudi Arabia, a monarchy.

(35,080 posts)That's it exactly.
I believe a lot of the Pro Palestinian folks will only be happy when every single Jewish person has been removed . . . from the planet.

(9,785 posts)I was working on something similar.
Antisemitism is so deeply ingrained in our world, and the antisemetic tropes run so deep, that it's part of the collective unconscious mind. People will believe Hamas propaganda instantly--along with the outrage and virtue signaling that it is designed, yes, designed to cause. There is no rational thinking, no discernment, and no common sense. If it's anti-Israel, it's automatically true.
OTOH, anything that attempts to bring the lies into the light is instantly labeled as "zionist propaganda", or some variation thereof, often accompanied by slurs against Israel and Netanyahu.
I have to conclude that many are so ignorantly imbued with confirmation bias that their common sense is out the window. For some reason I do not understand, the left, long a friend of the Jewish nation, has swallowed the hook, line, and sinker of antisemitism. Of course, calling it antizionism instead, as it is somewhat more socially acceptable.

You think there's a genocide in Gaza? (There isn't)
You want it to stop?
Tell Hamas to end it by releasing the hostages and laying down their weapons.
If you're not doing that and you're blaming Israel, you're not a human rights activist.
You're just a plain old antisemite.

(9,785 posts). . . the horrific photos used (at least) by the BBC were not of children in Gaza, but of starving children in Yemen (and no one is talking about that actual genocide).

(9,785 posts). . . I know I may have overposted on your thread, but it is a really important point that should not go unspoken:
This is very, very, very far from the only lie that has been told about Israel and this war. Pallywood is real and they are great at lying. So is the seeming international public relations campaign and meme generation factory.
