THIS IS THE JEWISH GROUPIn the rush to vilify Israel, genocide scholars ignored the truth
This week, the International Association of Genocide Scholars passed a resolution stating Israel is committing genocide in Gaza
Sept. 1 marked the 86th anniversary of Nazi Germanys invasion of Poland, the start of World War II and the subsequent Holocaust. This somber anniversary was also marked by breaking news that the International Association of Genocide Scholars passed a resolution declaring Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza. As a member of the association since 2013, I had been raising concerns about this deeply biased and inaccurate resolution for weeks. When it was first proposed to the IAGS membership in late July, I immediately connected with a number of fellow IAGS members who shared my concerns about the resolution and its incorrect assessment of Israels conduct in Gaza.
Among them was the biased so-called expert sources cited to support these erroneous claims. They included deeply questionable organizations and individuals, including Amnesty International (which rewrote the international definition of genocide to support its claims against Israel) and Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, whom the U.S. State Department condemned in June 2025 for unabashed antisemitism, expressed support for terrorism, and open contempt for the United States, Israel, and the West.
snip===========================
I fought this resolution and lost. Out of an estimated 500 members, 108 voted to pass this resolution (per IAGS, for a resolution to pass, it requires a 2/3 majority from a quorum of at least 20% plus one of all paid-up IAGS members). I tried to advocate for transparency, but the leadership refused to disclose who authored this resolution. I was promised a forum for scholarly debate and discussion, but no town hall was held.
The headlines covering the results that IAGS actively reposted on its now-deleted X account presented the false perception of an overwhelming majority vote. There was none. Of the approximately 500 members, only 129 voted. Those who oppose this heinous, libelous resolution were silenced.

Genocide scholars resolution accusing Israel deeply problematic, member says
Sara Brown, who was a two-term member of the International Association of Genocide Scholars advisory board, calls the whole premise and tenor of the resolution flawed
A longtime former board member of the International Association of Genocide Scholars criticized the groups passage of a resolution on Monday accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza, calling the move deeply flawed and the result of a politicized process. Sara Brown, the American Jewish Committees regional director in San Diego who has a Ph.D. in genocide studies, argued that the whole premise and tenor of the resolution is deeply problematic.
The resolution passed with only 129 out of over 500 IAGS members voting, 108 in favor, 18 opposed and three abstaining. All paid members have the right to vote, and membership is not restricted to academics; its ranks include artists, activists and others interested in the field of genocide studies. As a result, some pro-Israel figures paid to join the IAGS following the resolutions approval.
Under normal circumstances, Brown said, any member can propose a resolution, which goes before a committee for comments and feedback. Controversial or high-stakes resolutions are brought before a virtual town hall to discuss the text. This time, when the resolution was proposed on an IAGS listserv, Brown said that she and others attempted to publish a dissent that was deleted by the moderators.
One of the executive board members who moderates the listserv refused to publish it and said they are going to have a town hall, Brown recalled. Weeks passed as we waited for the town hall I reached out to ask the president of the executive board when it would happen, and was told we dont have to hold one and were not going to.'.

(20,652 posts)2. Dr. Brown is a bone fide, actual genocide scholar member of the group.
The group opened its membership to ANYONE willing to pay the $30 membership fee. Due to its "open door membership if you pay a fee", the IAGS has seen an influx in non-expert political activists in its membership rolls. Twenty percent of the members are now located in Iran.
In addition, Brown said, the resolution was posted anonymously, and the executive board refused to reveal its authorship, an unusual move that raised red flags.
Its very telling about the biases and agenda of the leadership that they refused to host a town hall There is no interest in having a transparent dialog and debate about such an important and damning [resolution] in terms of the reputation of the IAGS, Brown said.
Were supposed to be a scholarly organization. We should value above all else transparency, cited sources, debate and diversity of opinion that strengthens us. Instead, we saw deliberate silencing of debate, she added.

This "scholary" organization is a scam and their report is a scam. But we live in a world where when it comes to Jews, a scam wins the day.

"March 31, 2025 Paris
Today, Simone Rodan-Benzaquen, Managing Director of AJC Europe, wrote to UN member states expressing concern about the possible reappointment of Francesca Albanese, to serve as UN Special Rapporteur regarding human rights in the Palestinian territories.
On behalf of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), I am writing to urge your government to publicly express its view that Ms. Francesca Albanese is unfit to serve as United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories.
Despite her long history of engaging in offensive, inappropriate, and antisemitic rhetoric, Ms. Albaneses term, which began with her appointment on April 1, 2022, will be automatically renewed for another three years on April 1, 2025.
Since her appointment in May 2022, Ms. Albanese has systematically demonstrated a troubling pattern of conduct and expression that is incompatible with the responsibilities, neutrality, and integrity expected of a UN Special Rapporteur. Her statements, affiliations, and documented behavior not only call into question her impartiality, but have also actively contributed to delegitimizing the very institution she represents.
.......
We are especially concerned by the following documented facts:
1. Justification and Minimization of Antisemitic Violence
2. Use of Inflammatory, Biased, and Delegitimizing Rhetoric
Throughout her mandate, Ms. Albanese has persistently employed language that demonizes Israel and veers into classic antisemitic tropes:
3. Repeated Associations with Extremist-Affiliated Groups

https://genocidescholars.org/reactions-to-iags-resolution-on-gaza/
It is excellent and informative. I thought it should be included here in the interests of fairness and for context.
They have also put out this notice on their website:
"Due to a coordinated campaign of spam and harassment following the recent IAGS Gaza Resolution, the Executive Board has temporarily suspended new membership joins and renewals, and disabled the member directory (both public and private). These steps were taken out of an abundance of caution to protect our members.
Our priority is member safety. We are working with our IT team to restore these functions as soon as it is safe to do so.
We appreciate your understanding and continued support.
IAGS Executive Board"

(20,652 posts)8. In the context of the USUAL IAGS procedure for voting on any resolution,
the process was corrupt from start to finish as was the claim that the group had reached actual consensus before the announcement.
The tip off was in IAGS's headline:"86% of the members who voted"
The fact is that out of 500 members, 126 voted. In other words, a mere 25.2% membership participated in the vote for the anonymous resolution distributed through a listserv. 109 members of the those who voted wanted the resolution passed.
In other words, 21.8% (not 86%) of the IAGS members voted in favor of the resolution vilifying Israel.
And due to its "you too can be a genocide scholar© if you pay us $30" policy, 20% of the IAGS members are currently located in Iran. That information was available to journalists at the time that the story about the scam resolution broke.
The announcement simply acknowledges that IAGS has deleted its twitter account and closed down access to its membership list in an effort at damage control concerning the scam resolution that 78.2% of IAGS members did not vote to pass.
