They've obviously got malfunctioning buoys. A 4000 ft change in the depth of the sea floor is going to cause a massive tsunami, and isn't going to occur without accompanying quakes.

The 4000ft. change happened over a few years. The last 36 hours, it is 100 Meters of depth change, still a significant amount.
