(9,782 posts)at times needs our help.
There are times we all get entangled.
As humans, it may be mental or physical, but the entanglement is present and may be deadly.
Be the "net" Fox News or just propagandized talking points, we need to free the beast.
It may be very hard work, yet the thanks may very well be overwhelming.
Think it's worth a try.
Thank you for sharing this video. Lesson learned.

(25,111 posts)good wake up and so wonderful. In times of uncertainty, things like this gives much hope that as one of the living beings on this earth we can make a positive difference.
Thank you again!

(25,816 posts)I've been sailing in the waters off San Diego and had whales come right up next to the boat.
Once I leaned out and was almost able to touch one. Very cool.

(10,274 posts)When the dolphins head home, and the Whale-speaking Alien Space Probe of Doom and Destruction comes to find out what happened to all their buddies, THEN maybe the rest of us will figure that out. Better hope we have Time Travel and Ressurected Vulcans by then, or we're ALLLLL going to be in need of some "colorful metaphors"....
But in the middle of a month of raw suck, that video made me happy. Thanks to the OP for that=).

(15,480 posts)Drift nets more than 1.5 miles long were banned by the UN in international waters in the early 1990s and drift nets of any length in 2002 because of global concerns about the bycatch of dolphins, turtles and sharks.
Because they are illegal in many waters, when coast guard/law enforcement approach fishing boats using them, the commercial fishermen slash the nets free from the boat so there's no evidence to be used against them. However these nets are virtually indestructible, so then float through the oceans, creating walls of death killing every living thing which becomes entangled in them.
My recreational dives are about 50 minutes long, but I spent the entirety of one of them patiently untangling a piece of such netting which had caught on a piece of coral. Brought it back to the dive boat to be safely disposed of.

They have no-one to help but us. If we are lucky enough to spot a horrible situation like this, we can help. What about those poor creatures we don't see?

(81,511 posts)Maybe it's a combination of emotions - because I feel so horrible about the Trayvon Martin verdict. Thanks, Coyotl, for posting this. URGENTLY needed on a day like this. Something positive and uplifting for a change. Something that proves that sometimes the good guys win.
