I was in Boston and under a brown cloud of pollution and never got to see it. Hale=Bopp is the only one I've seen go by, and that's because I moved to NM, with thin, dry air and little blocking the view.

I hope this one pans out. Of course, it will likely cause more religious craziness to pop up, but o bla di.

There are many things that make it more likely to be a major event, being new, having a very white surface, it's likely position, you can read up. I have heard some scientists calling this likely to be the biggest comet event in the lifetime... of a civilization. That's, say 2000 years. It depends mostly on what happens while it swings around the sun. I doubt it will be a dud by any measurement. At the least it will be amazing.
