The find near Wuda, China, has given scientists a unique glimpse into how the planet looked 300million years ago when the climate was similar to today.The plants were preserved as they fell, in many cases in the exact locations where they grew.
The study team were able to examine an area of one thousand square metres giving them a good idea what the forest looked like, the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences reports.
