In a new study, biologists have revealed that there is actually a systematic rule based on social ranking that determines the order of crowing in roosters.

A more interesting finding is why roosters mate with a hen so darn quickly. ( really really fast)

I found in my flock 30 hens and 2 roosters, a rooster would patiently work a hen from the flock, and get her as far away from the other rooster as possible before mating, and that it only took a few seconds for the dominant rooster to run over and attack the mating rooster.
