Live stream via ustream. Neil Degrasse Tyson speaking now.
This years Asimov debate will pit some of the experimentalists who claim to have discovered faster-than-light neutrinos against their strongest critics, as well as other teams who are racing to test relativity with unprecedented precision.
Join Director of the Hayden Planetarium Neil deGrasse Tyson as he hosts and moderates six of the worlds leading voices in this great scientific debate. To watch the debate streamed live, tune in to amnh.org/live on the evening of Tuesday, March 20.

(3,820 posts)1. Sounds good, but I'm sure it'll go over my head faster than the speed of light.

(27,509 posts)2. Did Neil Tyson not know that gps clocks are corrected for relativity?
He said his mind was blown, was this really new to him or is he just being a showman?

(27,677 posts)3. A little of both I think
He may not have ever heard it expressed as an 11 km error.

(27,677 posts)4. Well, that was edifying
For anyone who missed it, it will be on Youtube soon:

(87 posts)5. Just this week
An experiment shows that neutrinos do not travel faster than light.

(22,308 posts)7. We already know it was faulty equipment that led to those results
and we knew right away that the results couldn't be right because the neutrino bursts from Novas don't travel faster than the visible light (they get here at about the same time every time).
They may as well be debating Boxers v. Briefs.
This is an embarrassment and an insult to the good name of my favorite author.
