This Boutique Type of Dog Food Has Been Linked to Heart Disease

Here's what you need to know.

KATE FURBY, THE WASHINGTON POST
31 AUG 2018

It started with a late-night cough. "He was otherwise fine, but … something was weird and different," said Verai Ramsammy, who was worried about her miniature schnauzer, Louie.

She was a meticulous dog person, the kind who bought special food for her pets. She made a veterinary appointment just to be safe.

Within months, Ramsammy's second dog, Mico, fell ill with the same problem. This made Ramsammy's veterinarians sit up.

The two dogs, both mini schnauzers, were unrelated. Their only connection was the home in which they lived.

selling nonsense about dog nutrition as there are about human nutrition. Next we'll be feeding kale and quinoa to bettas.

Kinda surprised, and a little worried, that the vets didn't make the taurine connection.

not extremely sensitive or ill, and can eat normal food do not deprive them or feed them what are often last alternative novel sources of protein / carbs made to help problems that your pet really doesn't have . Plus in this case taurine was missing as a supp in the mixes if the pet had reg pet foods it would have been getting taurine needed
Imo even with proper balanced supplementing added, these are for extreme allergies and the restrictions can be very helpful for a subset only
not for just oh let's try something new for the healthy pet on a whim
