Sometimes, when I am grumpy, the kids screaming outside annoy me, but I don't do anything about it because kids should play outside, in my opinion. The problem is with me, not them. Obviously kids playing outside is different than religious entitlement, but this is an opinion board. DU would be boring to me if we all agreed.

because I no longer engage with the religious here on DU. It does piss me off when alert-nannying spills over into our safe haven, though.

I guess I'm just feeling a little like others have bigger problems than atheists right now.

At least they can't identify us on the street and shoot our children because of it....

I've not really seen it pop up much other than in the fora dedicated to religion.

And I really think that the biggest problem with the religion forum and spilled into the interfaith forum (which for the most part I don't even read unless there is a popcorn worthy battle royale happening) is that there is a clique of self congratulating members which includes but is not limited to the hosts.

I will now conduct an experiment by stating an opinion of mine that is highly controversial. If our group is full of ditto heads, they will all agree with me.

Led Zeppelin is terrible and I would rather stick forks in my ears than listen to that droning alien sing.

If you'd seen them live in the 1970s as I did you wouldn't say that.
Well, you might, but I wouldn't listen.
And I've met that droning alien, a perfect gent.
And he hates bloody Stairway to bloody Heaven too, so that's a bonus.

If you really want to check for ditto heads you got to be more contentious than that. Something like this:

The Beatles are the most overrated band in History.

That's the message I get from people who don't get the Beatles. They're sad people worthy of pity, not argument.

Too much screaming and distortion. Sorry, doesn't do anything to me. But I'm sure they all (the three that are still alive) are good to their mothers.

here and in the real world. I don't agree that it is limited to a few groups either. So many juries will vote against the atheist just because they do not agree with the opinion. Some jurors will even make a point of stating this as a reason.

Stupid question, Warren Stupidity.

A huge problem? No.

Utah has a huge problem with religious entitlement, many southern states have a huge problem, the middle east has a huge problem with it, but comparatively speaking DU is populated with some vocal religionists who have difficulty playing in a world that includes reality and other believers that don't have that problem. Vocal minorities in general have more power in this venue (DU) than they deserve but that's the way of things. I don't think there is much we can do about it except keep it in check the best we can and don't use their tactics.

I doubt mainstream religionists see it as a problem, if they even can see it existing.
