Creationists Are Already in Denial About the Newly Discovered Species Homo Naledi

Creationists Are Already in Denial About the Newly Discovered Species Homo Naledi
September 11, 2015 by Hemant Mehta

By now, you’ve probably read about the incredible discovery of Homo naledi. Members of the species had very small brains (about half the size of our own) and very long and curvy fingers that may have helped them swing from trees. National Geographic calls it one of the “greatest fossil discoveries of the past half century.”

?1

The fossils were discovered in an African cave in 2013 and could force us to rethink what we know about human evolution. I would suggest reading these articles in the Washington Post and Atlantic for easy-to-read accounts of what happened and what it all means. It’s very exciting for so many reasons.

I know what you’re wondering: What will Ken Ham and his crack Creationist “research” team say about this discovery?!

No surprise: They’re in denial. Complete and utter denial.

… we can say with confidence that this discovery changes nothing about our understanding of human history.

God told us He created two humans as well as all the kinds of land animals — and that includes apes — on the same day. That means that there could be no evolution involved. Whatever species these bones represent… we know that they cannot be any sort of intermediate between apes and humans. The only way to find an ape-man — or a “bridge” between apes and humans — is to misinterpret fossils of either an ape or a human as something in between. But all humans — even varieties of humans that we no longer have with us — were all descended from the first two people God made.

Let me paraphrase that for you: Scientists say they discovered a species between older apes and modern humans. But that can’t be true because the Bible says otherwise, and we prioritize a literal interpretation of Genesis over any and all evidence to the contrary.

That’s how bankrupt their logic is. They’re dismissing a major discovery because it doesn’t fit into their ridiculously narrow worldview.

I can't understand what it's like to want to remain ignorant.

I'd like to think it must at least be difficult for them to deny science and convince themselves that they can create their own facts.

Because for me it would be impossible.

It seems to have more to do with ego than with "wanting" anything. They aren't"ignorant"...they know it ALL.... they understand the Bible better than scientists understand their fields.

It's all about their ego. All fundamentalism is..... maybe all religion.

I just can't get into their heads, I've tried and failed many times.

I blame my parents, they raised me to always ask questions and to know when someone is full of shit.

This is why I have so little patience for creationists and the like.

From way back in 2009 but it still cracks me up. "Sssssnake!!!"

Trigger for this: Ray Comfort released a "Special Edition" of Darwin's "Origin of Species." It started with 50 pages of Banana Man explaining how evolution REALLY works.

What could possibly go wrong with that idea? Just watch Kirk Cameron trying to hard-sell this POS and you'll know.

Cristina Rad is Romanian. And she knows more about the US Constitution than Kirk Fucking Cameron.

She totally rocks!

My mother was Romanian and she knew more about the US Constitution too.

Come to think of it, Ray Comfort's smearing of Darwin reminds me of CJ Werleman's smearing of atheists.

Now why would anyone want to promote a racist like Werleman on DU?

One of the youtubers who got me into a more aware state about religion and it's massive influence on the world. Thunderf00t's early work was amazing (though he's since gone way off the rails, the video where he went to the WBC and trolled them to their face was glorious) and I recommend Potholer's stuff every chance I get.

Creationist Paleontologists Discover Dinosaur Saddle

Mud Flaps, Arizona, March 29, 2006 -- A team of creationist paleontologists from the Discovery Institute's main field research arm announced today that they had discovered the remains of a large manmade object confirmed to be an ancient dinosaur saddle.

Dinosaur saddle discovered by Discovery Institute paleontological expedition near Mud Flaps, Arizona

The Discovery Institute's discovery was discovered in the remote Dusty Rivers area of southwestern Arizona. A spokesman for the paleontological team said that the dinosaur saddle provides irrefutable proof that man and dinosaurs lived simultaneously, as predicted by most creationist or "intelligent design" doctrines.

"I can't tell you how thrilled we all were to stumble upon this groundbreaking historical find," said Dr. K. Firth Booble, leader of the expedition. "We knew there had to be some evidence for man-dinosaur concurrence buried somewhere around here, but didn't think we'd discover it so quickly."

Dr. Booble, who received his doctorate in paleontology from the respected Holy Patriot!™ Bible University and Correspondence College of Claptrappe, Oklahoma, had embarked on the search, funded by a $2 million Discovery Institute grant, expecting to remain in the field for at least two years. The dinosaur saddle was unearthed a mere two weeks after the expedition's launch.

"We were going on the assumption that evidence of man's domestication of certain dinosaurs would have called for large fences, supports for the dinosaur corrals, so that's what we started looking for," said Dr. Booble. "We found a number of poles buried in several feet of sand almost immediately with the help of infrared satellite photos of the area. Then we just started digging, and boom, there it was."

The stunning find, a large saddle Dr. Booble believes would have been used by early man in riding "a Velociraptor, or a small Stegosaurus" is in relatively good condition considering its age, which Dr. Booble estimates to be "between 6,000 and 6,500 years".
