Psychologist Marlene Winell has done groundbreaking clinical studies of the psychiatric dangers of indoctrination and fundamental religion. See her case histories on her website. Makes you wonder why this isn't a bonafide psychiatic disorder (does the Amer Psychiat Assoc have a phobia about confronting organized religion?)

That seriously believing in an imaginary friend (not just lip service) *is* a psychiatric disorder.
